Timothy and Deborah recently acquired two Edible Arrangements locations in Southern California. One is located at 29881 Aventura in Rancho Santa Margarita and the other is at 305 S. El Camino Real in San Clemente.

Deborah is the Director of Finance for Ossur Americas, a global leader in orthopedics, providing prosthetics, compression therapies, bracing and supports that increase people’s mobility. Deborah is responsible for managing their portfolio of equity investment companies, including growing their performance and acquiring additional companies.

Tim’s considerable experience in growing small businesses, start-up companies and non-profits will be invaluable in developing his Edible Arrangements enterprise. Tim has received multiple business awards for his leadership and involvement in the community, including a “Lifetime of Achievement Award” from the Chamber of Commerce. In Delaware Tim ran a business whose client list included Vice President Joseph Biden, Fox Commentator Carl Rove, NFL great Dan Marino, the CEO of ING Direct, the Chairman of the board of MBNA, and the Governors of Delaware, Virginia and New Jersey. Tim has served on boards and committees for several non-profit organizations, and he even created a fundraiser for the March of Dimes that raised over $20,000 in its second year! That kind of ingenuity, creativity and marketing know-how is what separates the average business owner from the highly successful one!

Like most new owners, Tim and Deborah are very excited about owning and operating Edible Arrangements franchises. They know that our unique arrangements and versatile product line can make any occasion memorable. Tim’s drive to make a difference in the community around him is typical of Edible Arrangements franchise owners who routinely contribute products and financial assistance to worthy causes. Tim will be managing both locations with Deborah’s assistance on holidays and weekends.

There are milestones in the life of any business and we have seen our share of them. . . . we opened our first franchise after only two years of operation, and in 12 short years we have agreements for 1100 franchises in 15 countries. But you know you’ve really made it when Stephen Colbert features your product on his “Colbert Report.” I missed the broadcast because I was flying home from China, but I was amused to learn that on Tuesday night, Stephen suggested that anyone interested in sponsoring his debate should let him know by sending him an “Edible Arrangement” . . . and I was even more entertained when National Geographic channel did just that the following night! I couldn’t agree more with Stephen – we are the perfect messenger for sending all your sentiments! Check out the clip “Stephen Colbert’s South Carolina Serious Classy Debate – Nat Geo Wild’s Response” on the Colbertnation website.

As more and more troops are –thankfully – returning home to their families they are finding that the welcome mat does not always extend to an employer’s door. We want to give back to those who gave so unselfishly so that we can live in peace and prosperity. Edible Arrangements has long had a program for veterans to encourage them to purchase a franchise and be their own boss, but in these times, we felt we had to do more. We decided that the best hand up was to improve upon our existing program, and make it easier for vets to fund the initial purchase of a franchise and be on their way to owning their own business enterprise. That is why we have just doubled our veteran’s discount from $5,000 to $10,000 off the franchise fee. This savings of $10,000 is offered to all qualified U.S. veterans to demonstrate our gratitude for their service as well as our commitment to assisting more veterans make the transition from the military to the civilian and business community.

We have learned over the years that military veterans make great franchisees. They are proven leaders, dedicated and disciplined businesspeople with a drive to succeed – exactly the kind of person we look for to be a standard bearer for our brand. Our veterans proudly served our nation and flag; we are proud to welcome them into the Edible Arrangements franchise system.

According to a recent study conducted for the International Franchise Association Educational Foundation, one out of every seven franchise businesses are owned and operated by veterans of the U.S. military, based on U.S. Census data. More than 66,000 veteran-owned franchise businesses in the U.S. provide jobs directly for 815,000 Americans, and generate more than $41 billion in GDP. We are proud to do our part to help more veterans join these ranks of successful business owners and job-creators.

edible-arrangementsWhat an honor that Edible Arrangements has been named to Inc. Magazine’s “10 Promising Franchises for 2011”! I feel genuinely privileged to be able to work with the fine people who make Edible Arrangements work so well for so many. Our amazing franchisees have turned this concept into the popular holiday and everyday products their customers want, and by doing such a great job making customers happy every day, they have made Edible Arrangements a truly successful franchise! Of course, I also want to recognize a hard-working corporate staff that does so much to support our franchisees on a daily basis – with the technical assistance, marketing materials and operational excellence that enable them to run their stores seamlessly. Thanks also to Inc. Magazine for their recognition of our franchise, and congratulations to the other franchises recognized by Inc this year. It is truly an honor to be acknowledged this way, and a tribute to the exceptional people in our organization who make it work seven days a week! Here’s what Inc. Magazine has to say about Edible Arrangements:(http://www.inc.com/ss/10-most-promising-franchises-2011#5)

“Edible Arrangements, as its name implies, sells hand-sculpted fresh-fruit arrangements. The company, which began franchising back in 2001, has grown remarkably well over the last 10 years. In fact, it recently signed its 1,000th new store franchise agreement. In 2010, Edible Arrangements opened 84 stores in the U.S., and plans to open several more stores—from Massachusetts to Mumbai—in the next several months. ‘We started franchising in 2001 and the continuous growth of Edible Arrangements has been very exciting,’ said founder and CEO Tariq Farid, in a statement. ‘Our proven franchise system, healthful high-quality products, and our franchisees are the keys to our success.’”
