In my opinion, there are few things more inspiring than the stories of those who have overcome obstacles or objections to achieve success in whatever walk of life they are pursuing. That’s why I was so excited that Edible® employees recently had the opportunity to participate in an event at our headquarters sponsored by the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame that highlighted many such stories involving amazing women from our state.

Sarah Lubarsky, executive director of the Hall of Fame, did a wonderful job presenting the program, Pushing Past “No”: Overcoming Obstacles on the Path to Success, which shared the stories of Connecticut women who pushed back adversities to accomplish what was considered, in most cases, the unthinkable.

Ms. Lubarsky shared inspiring stories of determination involving women in science and medicine like Barbara McClintock, Helen Smits and Emeline Roberts Jones; pioneers in law like Constance Baker Motley and Patricia Wald; sports icons like Joan Joyce and Donna Lopiano; and others from across almost every field imaginable who were told they couldn’t succeed but proved quite the contrary!

It was an informative and inspirational afternoon for our Edible® employees. I hope the event ignited a curiosity that will lead them to discover the many more stories to be told.

If you would like more information on this great organization dedicated to publicly honoring the achievement of Connecticut women, preserving their stories and inspiring the continued achievements of women and girls, I encourage you to visit the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame website at  http://cwhf.org/.
