How the “Uberization” of Business is Reshaping the Future of Franchising

Later this week I will be in Austin speaking to a gathering of franchise professionals about the impact of technology on the future of franchising during the annual FranTech conference, sponsored by the International Franchise Association.

As a self-proclaimed tech geek, it is a topic that is dear to my heart and one that I have written and spoken about many times.

I’ve always been one to embrace technology. In the early days of Edible Arrangements I recognized the major role technology could play in separating ourselves from any competitors, and it still plays a critical role in our growth all these years later.

I’m a strong believer in making technology the basis of business, then inserting the brand on top of that technology. Doing this allows the business owner to automate operations and shift the core focus to growth. As I have discovered on numerous occasions, this method of “uberizing” business saves both time and money.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with international franchise speaker and author Dr. John Hayes for the How To Buy A Franchise Show to share my vision of how technology is reshaping franchising, and how we, at Edible Arrangements, have “uberized” our business.

I hope the information shared in this interview helps you rethink the role that technology plays in your business.
