This is a very exciting day for all of us at Edible Brands. We are joining forces with Colorado-based Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory in what I consider to be a groundbreaking, long-term strategic partnership.
This is not an acquisition or merger, although I will be assuming a position on the Rocky Mountain board. Rather this is a partnership that has the potential to significantly grow business for both companies.
If you are not familiar with Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, the company is headquartered in Durango, Colorado, and is an international franchisor of over 400 gourmet chocolate, confections and self-serve frozen yogurt stores in 37 states Canada, South Korea, Qatar, the Republic of Panama, and The Republic of the Philippines. They also manufacture an extensive line of premium chocolates and other confectionery products.
New products for our stores
As a result of this agreement, we will make Rocky Mountain branded chocolate products available in our stores as well as through edible.com.
For our franchisees this means they will be able to offer an exclusive line of premium chocolate gifts and treats available nowhere else. This builds on our continued focus to help franchisees grow sales at the store level by providing new and exciting premium additions to the product line.
We expect the online impact will also be significant. E-commerce currently represents only a small percentage of Rocky Mountain’s overall sales, but a core pillar of this historic partnership is for Rocky Mountain to leverage our world-class e-Commerce team at Edible, who will be responsible for all e-Commerce sales from the Rocky Mountain corporate website and expanding the broader Rocky Mountain digital eco-system through edible.com.
A historic partnership for Edible
Overall, this is truly a historic partnership for us and for Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Rocky Mountain is a perfect partner for Edible. The brand is extremely complimentary to our brand and products and by offering customers both Edible and Rocky Mountain products, I am convinced we continue to reinforce our position as one of the most attractive sources of gifts and treats available to customers today.
You will be seeing much news about this in the coming weeks, and I want to thank Ron Reynolds and everyone from the Edible team that was involved for their tireless work in putting this agreement together and bringing it to fruition.
And finally, I want to personally wish each of you a very Happy Holidays and best wishes for a prosperous New Year.
